    I have two CF-29E MK2.

I've installed cdroms and ordered and received the OEM CF-29 series recovery 3 disk set MK2-XP1AM-TSW.

My problem is the error message box popping up at 86% (restored) on the third disk.

ERROR #1802 IMAGE FILE INVALID OR CORRUPT

This happens on both TBs on separate clean and functional OEM CD drives. The disks look fine, no scratching other than a few fine light ones and no fingerprints or smudging on the read side. They seem fine like new. I've run recovery (as in the owners manual) over three times on both TBs. Ran the HDD wipe on one, even though the HDs were wiped, I believe, before being sold. I ran recovery as a complete to original factory settings, no partitions.

I installed Win98 on one of the TBs and that worked.

So I'm thinking contact the seller of the recovery disks for an exchange. But I wondered if there were any other thing to try before that.

It sounds to me like a corrupted CD image. It could be a factory defect on the CD. I would contact the seller to get another MK2 CD3 and see if that solves the problem.

If possible, I would kindly request another set, if available, just to be safe. I don't know how multi-session CD installations work so I'm not sure if replacing only one CD will work. You probably just need #3 though.

    Most humbly

Lucy is exactly right.... I have had factory new (or they seemed so) OEM Recovery Disks and it took a magnifying lens to see the little tiny scratch. All it takes is to lose one 0 or 1 and you're done.

You might want to try polishing the reading face of the CD to see if it might "polish out" a surface defect and recover the disc's usage.

What would you use to "polish" the disk??

After a number of runs with different drives and same results I tried the Skip Dr and for a bit it looked like the recovery might finish, but it just took longer for it to decide it didn't want to. Maybe the disk had bad writing. The Skip Dr may work pretty well for my nephews game disks though.

I contacted the seller and he was very helpful from the start and quickly sent replacements. The new disks worked perfectly, and fast. So now I have good operating CF-29s, I'm happy.

    Thanks again for the suggestions.
