I have just moved to Pennsylvania and I have recently received a CF-28 PIII 800MHz and don't know anything!

I need to find someone in the Allentown - Bethlehem area (or vicinity) who knows how to work on it.

It needs a hard drive installed and a DVD/CD drive.

If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

    Steve.

P.S. I was in Ohio and posted this request but was unable to find anyone.

First of all... Welcome to the forum and Happy Thanksgiving!

The things you need are the easiest of all things to do on the Toughbook. Several of our forum members have links on the siggys that link to a lot of "How-To" articles.

The hard drive itself is the easiest having to only remove 4 screws if I recall correctly. Then take out the gel packing and the hard drive within. Then just unsnap the old drive and snap in the new one and reassemble. Then you just need to load the OS with a recovery disk or load XP and then the drivers.

VERY Easy to do! I don't recall who lives where or if we have anyone up in that area. But part of the fun of ownership is working on these babies!

    Toughbook.
    Thanks for the reply.
I have read the stickies on hard drive replacement but I don't have a caddy and would like someone to point me in the correct direction to buy one. I also need to have a dvd/cd installed.

I wouldn't mind learning how to do it myself but would rather learn under the tutelage of one of you guys.

It will also need a backlit keyboard and wifi of some sort.
