Hey guys so I'm new here. Name is Dylan. I'm kinda new to this whole tough book thing acutally. I have a cf30 with GPS and a gobi 2000 aircard. Now my question is I'm going to put a dock in my truck and I have an antenna for the GPS already I'm just trying to figure what kind of antenna to use for the aircard. I just don't want to get the wrong antenna and burn up the aircard or something. I have an account at tessco do anything from there will be helpful but it doesn't have to be from there. Also looking for a magnet mount if possible. Thanks!!

You'll need more information...What carrier are you using...Verizon, Sprint, etc...
That way we can figure out the frequencies, and you can get the appropriate antenna.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with AT&T. I'm going to get the data connect plan with the SIM card so I just can pop it in when I get it

at&t or derision ... errr ... make that verizon .
i'd go with verizon ... they have the best coverage and the prices are doable (as compared to the maintenance costs of a nuclear reactor) .
hopefully , you get someone knowledgeable to help you out when you walk into the verizon store ...
when i hooked up my '30 with a gobi 1K i had two front smiling people tell me it can't be done and even tried to sell me on an external device .
finally a guy from the back room (and this is where the hip techs reside most of the time) came out front ... 30 minutes later , bob's yer uncle .
most of the time you will get the "rca victor dog" look from the *salespeople* ... they have never seen a '30 or perhaps anything like a TB .
there is a thread about my experiences in these forums *somewhere* .

On my Toughbooks, I don't have 4G or 3G or 2G...Don't think the Ranger will even pull 1G.......
Free WIFI anyone? MY CF30 does have a SR71...oh wrong SR71, crap, I feel slow..
    Does a Gobi2000 do 4G?....I don't think so....
I just point them in the right direction...Some assembly is required....
