    All Toughbooks that I have seen only have usb on the WWAN card slot. They are not a full mini PCIE interface.

    Do you know how the amd m5100 is connected? if i take down the back, can i plug it in there?

    Pretty good guess is that it's soldered on the motherboard.

    Though the express card slot ( I have one of those ASUS XG station) or one like or similar to the one you posted is about the only way to go for adding external gpu (unless you are talking about one of the new MSI or Alienware laptops with a dedicated port for that) The card will never reach its full potential because of limited bandwidth. But when done right it will work. Those type of set ups also require a seperate screen there is no way to feed the video feed back into the screen. So you have just made a dock for you laptop is all.

    The idea behind the one he posted and the type I have is to improve the graphics for gaming or 3d programs. But if you are just wanting to add another screen just like the laptop in a dock that would work, but video performance is good enough for word and pac man only on the usb ones.

    The CF54 has a built in HDMI port.
