After enabling GPS on MC7700 using instructions found here:

    https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/sierra_advanced_gps

From cold start, after 15 to 20 minutes, I get what appears to be 1 satellite in Panasonic GPS Viewer app (one blue dot COM 4). This is surprising since the WWAN card is encased in the metal casing of the FZ-G1, and has an antenna connector labelled "GPS" but no antenna connected, and I am inside the house. Maybe you antenna engineer folks can recommend an antenna to try to see if FZ-G1AABGCLM can become GPS unit without the GPS module?

Mine has ethernet port in expansion hole, and I would like to keep it there for router setups, ethernet troubleshooting, and such.

    I would try a 10mm patch antenna

Full AT commands set ( source)
    AT!ENTERCND="A710"
    AT!CUSTOM="GPSENABLE",1
    AT!CUSTOM="NMEAENABLE",1
    AT!CUSTOM="GPSSEL",1
    AT!GPSQMICONFIG=1
    AT!GPSNMEA=1
    AT!GPSNMEACONFIG=1,1
    AT!GPSNMEASENTENCE=29FF
    AT!GPSONLY=0
    AT!RESET

I'm sure you already have NMEA enabled, but it's ok to make it again :)
Bold text line is to switch Sierra module antenna to the WWAN one.
I'm sure you don't need GPS antenna at all.
Using GPS in MC7355 and MC8355 modules without additional antennas - super cool :))

Are you saying that this command causes GPS to use WWAN antenna? And does this disable that antenna for use by WWAN?

If it does not disable WWAN, ULTRA-COOL!!!!
I will give it a try

Thanks a bunch BaRRmaley. That worked! Now picking up 6 satellites in my living room. Thanks also to Shawn. I just may try that antenna too!
