I recently scored an FZ-VEBG11 desktop cradle for my FZ-G1 for just $100 delivered!

I want to pin out the connector on my FZ G1 and figured a dock might be a good way to do that.

The dock connector looks like it is mostly power and USB.
The dock has 2 usb ports, 1 hdmi, 1 network, and 1 serial port. It appears that they are all USB based devices and not analogue connections through the dock to corresponding components.

The dock is advertised as not for use as a car dock and I can see why; a spring loaded wheel is the only restraint holding the FZ-G1 into the dock The benefit is that it is super easy to get into/out of the dock.
Anyway, here are some terrible pictures.Enjoy.

The only dock that i encountered so far that had real pass through(at least for gpu) was the CF-52 one. With my MK5 performance i could use the displayport on it to feed multiple 1080p displays or a 4k 60hz one. With devices such as FZ-G1, CF-54 and CF-20 you are limited to the hdmi port that does not support 4k 60hz

I bought a CF U1 dock and opened it to trace the usb port connections.

What I found was the data connections are on the docking port but the power connection (5V) is not.
It gets that from the power supply connected to the dock.

I am going t to build a custom lightweight FZG1 car dock because I refuse to pay $400 for something I can build better suited to my needs for $20.

    I have the following concerns/questions:

1- I would like to incorporate a USB plug or two (or just add a usb hub), but am not sure if I need to include some sort of shock/static/etc protection that may required to protect the D+/D- on USB, or if I can just POGO connect them?

2- I am not sure if I need to include some sort of shock/static/etc protection possibly for the DC power connections. I know power gnd needs to connect first with a longer POGO pin for grounding purposes.

3- The FZG1 does not output 5v for external USB. I was planning on using an RC hobby grade 5v 10amp BEC switching regulator for the USB 5v supply; I planned on grounding the BEC at the same location as he LIND power supply will I be using in order to eliminate a potential ground loop.

I was really hoping some Jedi masters might chime in.....
    Thanks, y'all!

    Simple question to ponder.
Does a standard usb connector have any special grounding or static protection?
The usb port on the dock is not any different other than the type of connector. At least for D- and D+

i think 24pin connector is a usb 3.0 port and 16v power source
    vebg11 is a usb hub
use smsc chip which is have 4 usb3.0 port and 3 usb 2.0 port
one usb3.0 port is for display link chip(hdmi&vga) and another one is for lan

OOOH! Someone else who is interested in the pinuot!

So far as I know, the dock connector does not put *out* voltage, only signals. That's why the ikey keyboards have to have a battery in them.

I see why the usb2 pins are easy to spot. I'm assuming you looked at the pin order on the usb chip for the order of the pins on the dock connector? which chip is the USB chip?

All of the devices in the dock are USB. I was assuming that 1-3 and/or 21-24 were to do with usb2 ports. I thought maybe multiple usb connections would be used to increase bandwidth.

Did you check the pins for voltage on your g1? I would try, but I have no meter with me.

my email is my username at hotmail.com, btw.

I do have a FZ-G1 mk1 with the desktop dock and it powers on a 2.5in hard drive from the dock usb port, no ac power connected at all.
My IKEY model IK-PAN-FZG1-C1-V5 with usb port and it does not have an internal battery.

    That is interesting..

So what is needed is someone to check for voltages on the dock connector WHILE the G1 is docked or the keyboard connected.

If i try to power on the usb hard drive from the usb port on the IKEY keyboard it gives me a power failure error but i am able to charge my phone.
As you can tell on the picture i am not connected to AC power but drawing power from the keyboard usb port.
I guess the keyboard usb port was not meant for high power draw but the dock was overbuilt by Panasonic.

The LEDs for the lighted iKey keyboard for the FZ-G1 are powered through USB from the G1 docking connector, but the power appears to be divided between the keyboard LEDs and the USB port on the side. The data sheet for the latest version, IK-PAN-FZG1-C1-V5, says
Since USB is supposed to be limited to 500 mA, that implies that at full brightness about half is available for the keyboard LEDs and half for the USB port. Presumably, dimming or turning off the LEDs would allow more power at the port, but I haven't verified that.

Dern it! I don't have a DMM with me.

So, can someone see if there is voltage on g1 connector pins? I have a feeling that pins 1-3 or 20-24 might tell the g1 that it is docked, which may or may not enable the docking pins or voltages?

    [QUOTE =“ interestingfellow,文章:10986287,成员:326046”]请尝试一下!我没有DMM。

    那么,有人可以看到g1连接器引脚上是否有电压?我有一种感觉,插针1-3或20-24可能会告诉g1它已对接,这可能会或可能不会启用对接插针或电压?[/ QUOTE]
    您可以在扩展坞电源打开时测试vebg11吗,没有fz-g1的引脚电压P4和P5

I get no voltage between P4 and P5-P10
The grounds have continuity between them
The grounds have continuity to the bigger spring loaded spikes on the dock (to ensure the FZG1 is grounded before making any electrical/signal contact.

When I measure resistance on my powered on FZG1 between P1 and P22, I get 1Mohm (100,000 ohm)
When I measure resistance on my powered on FZG1 between P21 and P22 I get 1Mohm
When I measure resistance on my other unpowered FZG1, I get open continuity between P1 and P22
When I measure resistance on my other unpowered FZG1, I get open continuity between P21 and P22

    This is irritating!
The only pins that exist on both ikey keyboards are
    Pin 1 unknown
    Pin 10 5v
    Pins 12/13 usb2

The only thing I can figure is that we need to pull pin1 high? I don't have my test leads to mess about tonight.

I am going to try to use an FFC to check out the connection between the dock and the fzg1 while it's docked.

I just know someone on this forum already knows the secret.

The Ikey keyboard only has 4 wired connection pins inside. As my photo has shown.

    They are the standard usb. ( d- d+ V+ V- )

Usually Panasonic has one pin that grounds out to signal a device is connected.

Short to ground might signal that G1 is in dock and enable the 5v for usb port in dock.
