I ran across these on ebay. CF-VHD2830
Panasonic toughbook CF-29 Hard drive+caddy CF-VHD2830 | eBay
I am guessing these are all standard IDE harddrive hookups because of the time frame they are made in.

I used buy it now. If I waited I would have missed out. If you check completed items, they did accept an offer of $50.00 from someone. Too rare an item to be cheap on. Especially once it was mentioned on this board.
-
Yes I got 2 of them for 50 each , wish I would of saw the other 2
-
Lucky me you didn't saw the other two

So, I received my media bay HDD today. Unusual accessory. According to HD Tune the drive only has 8 hours on it. It had operating system files on it. It looks like it was used as a boot drive in a CF-29 Mk1 for Win2k. Maybe if anyone who bought one has a Mk1 they can see if it will boot. It had a sticker on it saying that it was the property of the city of Phoenix.

Check out eBay items# 220813639465 and 220813638152 -
I'll ask the dumb question, how difficult is it to fabricate your own one of these with perhaps a dvd/cd drive or an aftermarket version....Driller
hey sadlemaker, shawn, rusty, you guys done this one yet? -

Yep...been there, done that
. Somewhere there is a thread on this but will have to look when I get home...working. I did this over a year ago but when I moved up to the CF-30 I pulled the drive out to use in it.

Yep, i did it too, but the weak point of the after marked system is the fact they are not shock proof.
The original caddy has the hd mounted in foam.
its a pity they accept only pata, but there is enough place to mount a pata to sata converter by cutting some of the foam. -
That was the reason for my first post on this thread. Was to see what hook up it had for the harddrive. I have two cd caddy's with no cd drive in them put up. I didn't think about the extra foam padding in them. Still thinking of doing that harddrive swap in one of them later on. Looks like I will have to come up with my own padding.
