    Does replacing the inverter fix this issue? Next question is where do I get a new inverter?

    How many hours are on it? I think those are equipped with a cold cathode tube for the LCD screen so it may be that. eBay is probably your best bet. You might be able to just find an entire working lid with everything and just do a transplant. Just a thought.
