Sorry I know I am late to the game but finally got a few 29's to play with and see if I am going to leave my sweet gem of a 28 behind or not. I grabbed 4 29's on sleaze bay for $250 each - HD, DVD/CDRW,512 ram, wireless, NON-TOUCH. They are only MK1 but in very good condition. I have just spent the last 2 hours plowing through the 29 threads and still have a couple questions for confirmation.

    - Will my second (media bay) battery work from my 28 ?
    - Will my backlit (chicklet style-full stroke) keyboard work and if so do I need the extra little board that the 28 needs as well as the light sensor ?
    - What is the max ram for an MK1 (CF-29C3KGZDM) it shows 512 currently but have not checked to see if that is on board or if it already has a stick in it.

    Thanks guys - as always

    - gotta go count my bullets - Mega

    1. Yes
    2. Yes, and no, you do not need an extra little board
    3. Not sure on the RAM question. Let's wait for an answer on this one.

Btw, you can change the whole LCD panel with a touchscreen one so that you can have touchscreen model. No modification or soldering needed just swap the whole thing.

Thanks but I am not all that into the Touch Screen - I took mine off my 28 for better daylight visibility and brightness and have just gotten used to it. Good to know though as a few of these will be cleaned up, painted, modded and resold.

Thanks - BTW I really like the 29 you had on ebay recently - very nice job. Did you ever sell it, sucky time to sell with everybody sitting on their $$$ lately -

Tell me about it... I just relisted a CF-29 for the 3rd time! I can't believe it hasn't gone yet... I dropped the price though so we'll see.
Glad to hear you got the 29... The touchscreen is very bright too on the 29... I've never seen a non-touch unit so I can't compare but I can't imagine it being too much brighter.

The illuminated keyboard from the 28 won't work in the 29... Someone said they tried it once with good results but I don't see how... They require different voltages supposedly.

Get a 1GB stick of RAM and juice one up... You'll love it!

    ???

I took a rubberized backlit keyboard from a 800 mHz CF-28 and installed on my 29.

    Works fine...

Hope I don't screw something up...

Before I go searching for it - do they make a chicklet (full stroke) style key board for the 29 ?

really don't like the rubberized and really don't need the full on water proof it gives.

Thanks - off to order some RAM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a bet pricey, around $250-300 so far. The emmissive backlit keyboard. It is compatible to cf-29 and cf-30.
