So I've got one CF-51Mk3 with a fingerprint reader and another CF-51Mk3 without a fingerprint reader but with a faster processor. I'd like to move the fingerprint reader to the CF-51 with the faster processor, but I don't know if the BIOS will see the fingerprint reader if I do. Anyone know about this? From reading the forum, I presume that the processors in these two machines are soldered on and thus not interchangeable, so switching them is not an option.
Thanks for your replies![]()

When I was working with my CF-51's, I was in nearly the same position. The problem I had at the time was I had one with the reader, but there was no cable. I think all you need is the connector on the mother board for the reader. Check the unit that has the reader and find out where/how it plugs in and then check to see if the other unit has the same configuration. I really do not think it matters which processor it has. You can also check the Toughbook configurator to see which models offered the reader.

I'm sure it doesn't matter which processor, but I would like to have the reader in the laptop with the faster processor
If you happened to have the service manual for MK1 and Mk3 CF-51s it I'd appreciate getting them. PM me with where to go or email or whatever. Thanks again.

I have to run for now, but if Teo does not beat me to them, I will get them to you later.

No worries, not in a huge rush, we'll see who responds first.
