I just found some dip switches about 1/4" from one of the keyboard connectors, and was curious if anybody had any idea what they're for.
There is two switches, and both are set to "off" on all 3 boards I've got.
I'll test them out myself tomorrow, but curious if anybody knew what they are for.

Have you checked the CD? It may be labeled on there.

So far all I know is it's labeled SW2 in the PCB diagram.
Still looking though. -

Maybe one or both will turn on the internal pcmcia card slot.

That's what I was hoping/assuming/thinking, because that would open up more expandability for everybody here.
I think that's where a bluetooth card will go in mine if it works.
It won't be until later today until I test it, but I'll let everybody know what I find.
Something weird that I found though, is that in the diagrams the hidden slot is labeled as CardBus-3, and PCMCIA-1. Kinda weird. -
I found more dip switches, this time on the GPS board. There are 4 switches, and the first 3 are off, the 4th is on. I also noticed a spot on a connector on the board that is poorly soldered, so I'll see about soldering it fully to perhaps get something fixed (?).
I'll also tamper with the switches too, on this thing. It might be frequency, but not sure. -
Ok, apparently I didn't check out my 800MHz board like I thought I did...
Only my 600MHz ones have the dip switch. Still curious what it does though.
Edit; since I already had the PCMCIA card in my 800MHz toughbook, I decided to test out the BIOS with it in. It gave me two new options.
Cardbus B, at the bottom, was disabled, so I enabled it. Wireless access was the other, but it was greyed out.
So, I booted up, and it launched the new hardware app.
Now if Netgear's site could provide me a damn driver, I'd be good, but it times out.
I'll get to testing out the GPS switches in a little bit, once the download from a third party source is done. -

The ones on the GPS are probably to set your com port. Mine is on com 4.

I noticed no changes with the dip switches on the GPS board.
An update on the internal PCMCIA slot though, I've got a card working normally through it right now. Time for bluetooth I think! -
You might try launching DMI viewer and playing with the dip switches... See what changes... If anything.

maybe you didnt notice any chance when you played with the gps switch caus in the bios you have gps on auto.............
Found some dip switches
