    I have a 800mHz/256 unit with a 13.3" touch screen. CF-28PTJGXQM
    I bought a 1GHz/768 unit with a 13.3 non-touch screen unit. I don't have it yet, so I can't get the model #.

The increase in performance will be very welcome. I may even load iTunes again -LOL! I would miss the touch screen terribly. will the new machine have the hardware to allow me to switch displays? I understand I will have to load drivers, but I need to know if the new 1GHz machine will support the touch screen with the installed hardware and firmware.

Also, am I naive or will the new computer boot into Windows XP simply by taking the HDD out of my old '28 and putting it in my new computer? Will it act like my old computer? same desktop items, programs, everything?

    Any thoughts?

    Bernie,
The hardware is different enough between the MK2 and MK3 that you will not be able to simply swap the hard drive. If you do not have a very fast drive the difference in speed will probably not be very noticeable. I'm sure someone has tried the display swap, I just don't remember if it will work.

The stickies at the top of the forum have all the instructions and driver locations you will ever need... Along with a lot of mods you can do.

You can try swapping the hard drive from the Mk2 to the Mk3 let it install the drivers that it wants. It worked for mine. Then go and update the drivers for it. I donot know if you can swap back though, have not tryed it.
