I got a great deal on a MK4 256MB RAM!
CF-29L3LGZBM
Under $300, and around 500 hours on it! This thing looks almost brand new! SCORE!
The thing is, I really like some of the features of my ex SBC MK3. SO, I decided to get creative!![]()
At first I was going to just swap the entire display assemblies. But that would have been too easy!Plus the new machine had a better screen back with the embossed Toughbook logo.
So... I went to town swapped the WWAN antenna into the new display back, swapped the front screen assemblies, swapped the "Tempo" connector/modem with the modem in the new one.
It sounds so simple when I see it typed out but it took hours! Having the service manual was invaluable, I would not have attempted this without it.
Thanks Modly!
Everything seemed to go back together right (no extra screws), I plugged it back in and...
Its alive!!!!![]()
Now I have a CF-29 MK4, 256MB, touchscreen, WWAN antenna linked to cardbus bay, "tempo" MP interface, and all in a low hour machine that looks like it's been babied.

nice! any pics?

So you now have a Touchscreen model that will take 2.25GB of RAM?

Right now it's running super slow though, I have to order the new RAM to make it useable. I'm tempted to do the Win 7/readyboost thing. I'll wait for the arrival of the RAM for that one.
