Wanted to start a new thread for those TB nuts interested in diagnosing their cars with something I just tried on the Subaru that should also work with other newer vehicles.
Start out by reading this thread for background information:
FreeSSM - Complete access to your ECM and TCU - Subaru Outback - Subaru Outback Forums
I just loaded the freessm program off the mentioned link onto the TB and started up my Subaru to check out the program. The engine diagnostics work but not the Transmission (car is too new). Subaru (and others) 2009 and older should work following the protocol mentioned in the Subaru Outback Forum Thread: FreeSSM - Complete access to your ECM and TCU - Subaru Outback - Subaru Outback Forums
Enjoy, and thank you for all your TB knowledge!

Pretty sure this aint gonna work on me 1984 Mercedes, but i'll borrow me girlfriend's father's 2011 BMW 745 tomorrow and try it out.
If I don't check back, it means i must've pissed off some MP's. -
You are too funny! I know it works on VW, Audi, and any other car newer than 1999 that uses the specified format. Read through the thread provided and report back, would like to hear from you. I could not get the VAG connector to work in Windows XP Pro, but did get it to work loading Linux Joli OS 1.2 (go figure) probably just me and the New England cold weather setting in

Damn, i'm using ELM based hardware here at home. Gotta take a trip down to the workshop and grab the professional stuff before i try it out. Or i'll cash in a few favors and use the equipment in the motor pool. Then i'll have company when i get thrown into the box.

Right, it does not work on a 2011 BMW 745. I managed to get it running on a 2009 Audi S8 and a Sandcat, but the connection is dodgy on the latter. I couldn't find the OBD port on the RG32M so I skipped that one. Quite frankly, I don't even know it the damn thing has one.
Oh, and I did avoid the box this time.
