Hello. I have a customer CF-31ATNAXPM unit with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and I'm getting the below error when I try to run the Gobi 2000 Carrier selection utility that is installed to the hard drive!

    C:\Program File (x86)\Panasonic\CarrierSelectionApplication\selectcm.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

I know that this program runs FINE in 32 bit Win 7 Pro on this CF-31, but NOT on 64 bit! I know that in the past in 64 bit it worked FINE!

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? HELP!

    Thanks!

WOW! So I got some info here:

In regards to the CSA application not working on the 64 bit Windows 7... Well, it still doesn't work, but I just manually installed the Sprint Smart View and it worked fine! Which is more than enough for me!

Additionally, you know how we could never get the touchscreen working in "touchscreen mode" in the BIOS on the CF-31's? Well I was on the phone with Ian from Panasonic for about 44 minutes and he told me to use the XP drivers for the touchscreen and that totally fixed it! When you go to calibrate, if you use the "tablet calibration" button from within the control panel it will fail with an error. BUT! if you use the calwin.exe program it will work!

It's working so far, BUT it seems to forget/loose the calibration after a little bit so I'm still looking into that, but at least we've gotten further than before and gotten away from that HORRIBLE "tablet mode" and the HORRIBLE sensitivity problems!!

Also, FWIW: I asked Ian from Panasonic if he had ever heard of "Toughbooktalk.com" and he said, yes I have... "usually when I Google search something for toughbooks, that site is the first that pops up. I use it to find all the answers to the weird problems that I have"... I said: You know, I'm the owner of that site... He was like "Ohh, wow! That's cool, I love the site, it is a great wealth of information!"

So once again, I must thank all of you guys for contributing on a regular basis and this proves yet again how PANASONIC'S EMPLOYEES even use our sites to figure out problems!

    Thanks!

Will the CSA for the Cf-19 MK IV 64 bit work on the CF-31. I have 64 bit on my 19 with GOBI 2000 and Verizon, works flawlessly. Oh, Win 7 Ultimate...

    Rob-
We had the exact same problem using the toughbook carrier activation tool, Toughbook CF-52P with Win7x64.

After wasting 2 or 3 hours I saw your post about installing the SPRINT software instead of the Panasonic CSA. Our carrier is VZ, we just installed VZ Access Manager and it recognized and completely configured the Qualcomm GOBI 2000 in about 2 minutes. We did first need to install the Panasonic MISCDRIVER and OSINFO driver to get the GOBI to be acknowledged by Windows.
    THANKS!
