Can the GOBI 2000 get 3g via T-Mobile? Per Google tmo uses a 1700 mhz band that is not supported for 3g by the GOBI. If I found it on the internet it must be true, right?

According to Qualcomm, Gobi is not certified on T-Mobile in the US. However, Gobi is certified on T-Mobile in Europe.

It wasn't one of the choices listed in the documentation distributed with my US machine.

Well we use different frequencies for 3G (UMTS/HSPA that is, we don't use CDMA2000/EVDO). I think we use 2100, but don't quote me on that!

Also as a side-note, there is no Europe-wide certification for mobile devices, it's down to individual country networks to certify - and even then getting something certified on Vodafone UK doesn't mean it is certified on Vodafone Germany! (Gobi is used on T-Mobile UK though :) )

Might I point out that T-Mobile MOST DEF runs on 1900 Mhz here in the US (for 3G at least). I know this because my 1900MHz repeater works here in my office with TMobile (And Sprint).

Additionally, ATT now owns T-Mobile... :)

The merger has yet to win approval, though it will eventually. We still have the best govt $ can buy. Next Sprint will sell to Verizon. Bet on it.
