Will a GOBI...4000 in this case (mc7700) power an active patch antenna?

    Any GOBI for curiousity sake?

i looked at the manual in that link ...
unfortunately , they do not give a real schematic or (as far as i read/scanned) mention anything about "power insertion" on/at the antenna connector(s) .
an easy check ... power up the board and measure between ground and the center pin of the antenna connectors for B+ (3.3 or 5 volts dc) .
you can always build a power inserter ... a cap and an rf choke are all that is needed .

Yes. In a Dell Latitude D830, I attached an active GPS antenna to the MC7700's GPS port. Using the GPS port also enables GLONASS reception capability.

To enable such, you need to issue AT!CUSTOM="GPSSEL",0 to the modem, per the extended AT command reference. Also, you will need the unlock code for the modem, typically "A710", for AT!ENTERCND .

PM me if you need any more info on my investigations of the MC7700. It works awesome at least in my Latitude D830. Although quite frankly, adding the active GPS antenna didn't really help much -- the GPS receiver is dramatically better than the previous 3G cards (ie: Dell 5530) I have been working.

As far as antennas, I bought a cheapie $8 one from eBay, with the u.Fl connector.
