On most of the GPS receivers I have seen when the GPS is not getting info from satellites it just displays commas. However, I have come across a situation with the Panasonic Toughbook where it seems the GPS is stuck on the last know coordinate. This usually happens when the they the unit indoors and then bring it back out; it doesn't seem to come back to life.

Are there some settings I should be aware of? Someone once said there is a "Acquire" setting.

    Any help would be apprceiated.

Depends on what map software that you are using. Some programs have a "cold start" option. Usually that is only required if the GPS has been moved a long distance while turned off.

The GPS, must "see" the satellites well enough to get a signal regardless of whether it is inside or outside.

Could you tell us if the GPS is indicating whether or not it has a "fix" when it seems stuck?

What GPS hardware do you have in it, and what program are you using to determine your signal?
