    Hi All,

I have a CF-30C3P26BM. After a little trouble getting my Bluetooth to work I managed to get it working fine with a little help from some of the knowledgeable contributors on this forum. The primary function on this TB is to navigate through what can e very tricky waters mostly in a yacht but it would also be useful to be able to take the TB with me in the tender to confirm routes through reefs and tricky entrances before taking the yacht through. I feel that an internal GPS would be more flexible in this role. I decided to ditch the Bluetooth GPS and install an internal GPS (a Ublox 5 kit) and got from Custom Toughbooks in Norway.

Anyway, the installation happened this morning our time in Oz and seemed to go smoothly with just one exception. One of the instructions was that the GPS engine needed to be grounded but I was unclear of how this was to be accomplished. I chose to not ground the GPS engine and completed the installation. I was careful to re-assemble the base plate screws in the sequence specified in the manual too.

When completed I inserted a fully charged battery, slid the on switch and NOTHING happened not even a blimp of a flash from the green led. I then connected my AC power supply and got the same result. This also happened with a 12v power supply.

The back came off and the ribbon connector was removed from the GPS interface card, the back was replaced and again nothing.

I'm very fond of my CF-30 but at the moment very disheartened by it's current state. I'm open to any suggestions on what may be the cause of this problem and the solution.

    Thanks,

    Fabian

I'm hoping for your sake that you just need to find the fuse. Lacking a blown fuse, I think you have a big problem.

The GPS kit should be under the key board, why you've to open the base plate ?

There are two types of gps installation on CF-30 unit. One is under the keyboard and another one is under the palmrest above the battery bay.

To trouble shoot your problem, open it up again and take out the gps kit and power it up again. I suspect there are some misalignment of the cable ribbon. Then report back!
