I never would have imagined this being such a pain in the arse. I am looking for a good software/mapping program to use on my 54 with the U-Blox GPS engine. I have tried the Co-Pilot and am just not thrilled with it. I ordered the Delorme and it won't even work with U-Blox, at least according to there support dept. I loved my Garmin Mobile PC software as it was very simple, easy and always worked with my 30's. They are not supporting it any longer so the mapping is getting outdated.

Any other programs you guys suggest?

You can update the maps in Garmin mobile PC. You have to jump through a few hoops, but it works.
I have 2015 maps on Garmin on my CF19 and CF31.
Garmin's interface is dated and missing a few modern features, but I can not find anything that works even half as well.

I like MapFactor Navigator Free, as it feels similar to OSMAnd.
It uses OSM maps, talks NMEA to serial and usb ports, handles offline turn-by-turn navigation and has a simple full-screen touch interface.

On that MapFactor install. Pay attention to which desktop link you use. It created two One for the free version and one for the pay version. Be sure to click the free version.

You will need to get into the setup installer and download some maps before the program will open.

So far, it looks very good. The maps are current also.

Installed MapFactor on a CF52 without touch. I ran a couple simulated routes.
Looks good so far. It has a simple interface that I like. Not quite as polished as Garmin, but very usable.
A few things require several more clicks compared to Garmin. I'll let that fall into the learning curve category.

I will try MapFactor right now.
Shawn......If you ever get in the mood for the details on updating the Garmin let me know. I think my latest map was late 14 or early 2015 now that I think about it. If I don't like MapFactor maybe I'll load the Garmin and see what I can do with it. I had a pissing match with them a few years ago. I purchased the lifetime maps from them for it when it needed updated. They stopped supporting it the following year and I couldn't update it. I wasn't too happy.

I don't believe the Windows Store exists in Windows 7, but I'm guessing it probably only works in Windows 10. Windows 8/8.1 is iffy.

I'm not familiar with the Windows Store as I don't want anything to do with W10.

Toyo, it already runs in full screen mode, judging by the screenshot.

I have no clue why your taskbar is acting all modal.

There is a way to change full screen or taskbar showing.
You need to modify the shortcut. The switch --window_border=yes -- will force the taskbar to appear. Deleting it will remove the taskbar.

    Copied text from MapFactor forum:

This is an example for Windows 10:

If you look into properties of your navigator icon the target line should read something like this, of course depending on in which folder you installed it:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Navigator15\PC_Navigator\PC_Navigator.exe" --window_border=yes --atlas='C:\ProgramData\Navigator\15.0\atlas_pcn_free.idc'

i cleared out the registry beforehand and checked around for leftover files and such ... could not find anything .
i finally got the program re-installed but it still insisted on being in russian .
i managed to accidentally get to the settings and change it over to english .
after all of the hair-pulling , i think the "free" version is horribly crippled .

I do not want to say something but most everyone who writes above talk about specific manufacturer software. The main question is for what purposes you will use gps software :)
Of course, using it with a custom
gps receiver it's vital to get a gps software that is compatible with that gps device. To get it work there is a lot of tracking software. But it you will want customize anything there it starts a problems. I've been using these service for a fleet tracking. But if you want to connect more than one device you need addition upgrades for software. Did not found anything for free to manage a couple device tracking in one account. From my experience, my company have bought vehicle tracking software from http://www.gpswox.com/. It is payable service, but there is abilities to customize tracking options and get some alerts.
To get only a mapping or to review locked gps device information maybe it is enough a free version.
