We are trying to get the GPSApp working.
When we launch the app' it comes back in error.

Yet, when I connect up to COM3 via hyperterm, the GPS data seems to be streaming in just fine.

I read some place that an entry may be missing in the registry.

Any ideas on what this could be and how can I solve this problem?

thanks in advance for any help...

able to get GPGSA data feed from COM3. Spits out data every second or so and seems to be consistent (not moving the unit)

The GPS is the one that came with the CF-30.

Check the data speed set in your app - the GPS should be on com3 @ 4800 baud. Some programs default to 9600 baud, and the data received is unusable at that speed...

What software are you using to view the GPS position? Not hyper terminal, do you have an application which shows the computer's position?

Sierra GPS sw watcher R7.11.0.0 build 1904

In regards to the BIOS, it is set at GPS Auto.
Should I change this to Enabled then the default IRQ?

Is there another GPS sw package available that may be a bit better than the Sierra wireless Inc ?

I'm going to try the baud rate settings...

Download VisualGPS (free), install it and see if you can find the GPS. The Sierra watcher is for cellular communications, does it have a GPS window?

Visual GPS is a great utility - easy to use, good info, and you can choose com ports and baud rates. You can observe the live GPS data stream, so you'll see if you are receiving any signal from the GPS receiver.

I'd leave the bios setting to auto, until you see if there is no other cause of the problem.

Have you tried using the GPS in a mapping program, or just the Sierra utility ?
You can download a free trial of Microsoft Streets and Trips 2010, and see if the GPS works in it. It's possible that the sierra utility is not designed to work with the TB's internal GPS...
