I purchased the DeLorme Street atlas USA 2008 today. It came with a usb GPS LT-20 . I loaded the program off the DVD and set up the cf-28 internal GPS to be recognized and within seconds I had a lock on 5 Sat's. The DeLorme map had me pinpointed right. Then I disabled the internal GPS, hooked up the external and it got 5 Sat's locked within seconds, however the map said I was about 4 blocks North East from where I am and that I was moving, (I was sitting in a chair in my back yard). All in all, I would recommend the program and not the GPS unit.

well that's the truth about most GPS's.....public/private/military
they drift even whilst not moving, due to rotation and the fact that the gps can achieve so much lock -
i have DeLorme Street atlas GPS software not sure which version it is,
but what happens with microsoft streets, is you get the satelites but when ur driving around you tend to loose signal more often then once, it gets abit anoying at times,
when i go camping etc and get away from the city then the GPS works fine......... -

Its funny that there was no drift using the internal panasonic GPS. Maybe the quality is better
?

That would be a shock to me, with how all of ours are not working

I would agree with you on the 800mhz I had. When I finally got XP pro installed, the GPS wouldn't lock at all. I had the same symptoms as Toughbook, it would pick up 3 Sat's but not get a good lock. Using winfast GPS they would just stay purple. Now the one in my 1ghz worked fine with the same XP on it. The only difference is that the 1ghz says its designed for XP even though it has a win 2k coa on it.

it doesnt matter about the sticker saying it is designed for winxp,
manufacturers tend to do that every time a new OS comes out, i bought a dell pc for my cousins alittle while ago and when recieved it had a winxp pro coa on the back but had a sticker saying designed for windows vista,
so bottom line is if you have a sticker saying that, that means winxp can be installed onto ur pc/laptop without any problems............. -
Are the gps units (internal toughbook) WAAS enabled?

Has anyone had good luck with their GPS under Win2k? How well did it work? Mine seems to work fine ONLY when the screensaver comes on. After I touch the mousepad or touch the screen to bring it out... I see 5-6 sats in the green then quickly, one by one, I lose all but MAYBE 1.
Hmmmmm -
well windows 2000 worked perfectly for me personaly,
never really had a problem with GPS then,
i used to get up too 5 fixes but now using winxp the max i get is 4 satelite fixes..........
