Anyone see or have hands on this BEAST!?
    Daddy want!!!

OT: Saw a demo of the ballistic armor DELL uses on the XFR series rugged laptops.... Seems superior to Panasonics Magnesium Alloy...

Neither will stop a 7.62x39mm FMJ round, though. :nah:

    Your point?? :)
Good rule if thumb when using a computer is not to be in LOS of the enemy,
Because nothing screws up a game of minesweeper like a 7.62 going through your screen...

They say whatever doesn't kill you just makes you stronger. I say sometimes, it just makes you cross.

After you eliminate the threat, then you otta find replacement parts... And that can be a in a war zone.. Well you could always hook up an externals monitor...

The look of it is awesome. From the look and fell, it SEEMS like it would be stronger than the magnesium alloy. Although I didn't open it up, I heard that the internal components aren't that great. I heard that if dropped, it is not as well built as the Toughbook.

Here are some pictures I took of it with a crappy camera phone.

Hmm, Getac X500 doesn't do it for me. 2Gb of memory? That's not much. intel i7-620m not the latest, 1000nits screen, but my CF-19 has 6500 IIRC, no digitizer/dual screen, couldn't find WWAN.
I'm sure it's not a bad laptop, but all in all it looks like it looses a few points on all the parts I find more or less important, when compared to my CF-19 mk5.
I have no idea what the X500 has to cost, so if that would be significant lower when compared to a CF-31, I can understand it, but if the price is comparable?!

About the ballistic armor, wouldn't that insulate heat?

The x500 will take 8gb of ram.
I think cost is around $4500
