I manage a fleet of approx 80 CF30s. Most are MK2 & MK3s but I do have some MK1s (13). My account Rep says that MK1s do not support the GOBI system. Can anyone please verify if this statement is accurate? I just can't understand why CF29s are supported but CF30 MK1s are not. I would love to outfit all these great units with the GOBI system but I'm also looking for a consistent solution across all units.

By the way, These toughbooks are indestructible. We had one submerged in sewage for 3 hours and the only thing that failed was the keyboard. Great units!

Only MK5 CF-29s can go with the Gobi IIRC.....(Or at least need the MK5 sled) The MK1 should be able to handle it with the correct part numbers and equipment. Have you visited www.heartlandsi.com and called their service department? Call Jen and ask her to check for sure....

Off to ebay no doubt.... a cf30 with non-working keyboard for a great price :)

btw I read the same info when they released Gobi ,at that time panasonic stated it would be available for retrofit on mk2 cf30's and newer only

    About the thoughbook,

It was under water for a while. We had to place it on the floor and let it dry out because water had made it into some of the internals. After it sat for about a week we sent it in for repair and sure enough just the keyboard was swapped. Needless to say the machine smelled like.....well you know. It's not on eBay, it was actually in use till just recently (It was a CF28).

Thanks for the contact information Toughbook. I will place a call on Monday to verify. Thanks everyone for your responses.

We use AT&T as our carrier and have very little issues. Currently we have older sierra MP775 Modems. We don't really want to swap every modem for an updated MP890. They are $1000 each! We may be able to upgrade all our CF30 with GOBIs for half the cost!
