I am trying to get the Qualcomm Gobi 2000 HP UN2420 modem working
    in CF-19 MK2's.

Have read the other posts but have not found a working solution yet.

Is there a way to update the firmware on the UN2420 to the Pana firmware?

The HP drivers load fine and it shows the modem in device manager. The
Pana connection manager states "no device found"

Any help on this would be great.

    Thanks for the positive news!

The cards are the same it's just a firmware issue I thought. Did you
    try this also???

    Yes, I tried :)
    Many days without result :)
After all, I've bought Sierra MC8790 (HSDPA) and have EVDO modem in reserve :)) UN2420 has been sold to HP owner and works there :)

Ok, guess thats not the answer I was hoping for but thanks.

I liked the fact that the Gobi2000 has GPS which gives me the
    best of both worlds.

MC8790 has GPS too. And many other modems have GPS now.

Panasonic GOBI modem will work, not HP un2400/2420 :)
Or you have a secret firmware for it? :)

    Hi Rob,

I have tried the DIP switch settings like you have confirmed. It does instal
the UN2420 but via Panasonic connection manger or any other manager for that
matter it shows "no device found"

Do you have a firmware update???

    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Qualcomm_Gobi_2000

When I read this it appears the firmware is in a folder in the instal folder.
Soooo if I instal a Panasonic gobi card I should have the firmware to load
onto the UN2420???? I don't have a Panasonic Gobi2000 card at the moment
but when I do I can give that a try.

Otherwise yea I will sell them to people with hp's ( sorry for swearing )

yes, it should be possible. Actually, on my C1, I installed a lenovo Gobi 2000 I had from a previous Thinkpad, and I had no problem using it under Linux , with the SAME firmware from the Lenovo Gobi Drivers install files (just like it's described on the ThinkWiki page).
So no need for a Panasonic firmware, UNDER Linux.
Unfortunately, in Win7 x32, I never managed to convince either the Lenovo Gobi Installer to work (complains about not being a Lenovo laptop) or the Panasonic WWAN Setup (or whatever's called, not the CSA app) to recognize the Lenvo branded card.
Either one of these installer would load the firmware, and make the Modem and GPS devices available (appear in DM).
So I was stuck with only one USB Device (the firmware loader).
Even more, I managed to use a HP Ericsson F5521gw on the same Linux (F16) just by plugging it in (THAT IS plug-and-play).

However, this being a CF-19, and having that sled and jumpers, I'm not sure the same scenario is entirely possible.
