Thanks men I'm hanging in for full adventure ,LOL , TB2010 you must know the area I'm 18 miles due east of Altus were at 86 hour's & counting W\O power & I'm total electric. I see a propane tank in our future if for nothing more than warmth & a way to heat water. Hot meals, showers, internet that's living boys !!!

Good old Altus! I spent about three weeks there going to school when I was active duty back around 1980. If it is still the same, nothing beats the scent that drifts in from the end of the runway, especially if the wind is just right and it is an exceptionally hot summer day! Plus, you can see forever on a clear day and when a C-5 Galaxy was on final, it would hang in the sky for what seemed like days! You could note its position, go away for a while, and when you came back it looked like it never got any closer!

We're getting pounded here in Chicago right now with snow... expected 14"... will snow ALLLL DAY... I just geared my car back up and fitted it with 5 sand bags in the truck, come-alongs and an extra shovel. I'M PREPARED! (albeit, nothing compared to your deal...)

Heck.... We just got hit by (Officially) 31" of snow (with drifts up to 5 feet) and now they are caling for 10" - 20" more tonight and tomorow. The piles of snow in front of my house are already taller than my Hummer.

I can't move south fast enough and get out of this dreadful state.

Rob, snow on SG roads is as common as hen's teeth, so please pardon if I sound silly. I understand that during winter or heavy snowfall, motorists will affix chains to their tires but what do you mean by "I just geared my car back up" and why the 5 sand bags?

Ron in SG... hot and humid with no snow!!

Because I have rear wheel drive (SRT8 300C) that is terrible in the snow... The extra weight from the sand bags over the rear tires/axle REALLY REALLY helps. I took all my snow "survival equipment" out of the trunk because it's heavy and eats gas + we haven't had much snow till now. I just put it all back that's all :)

I thought the sandbags and shovel were for if you got stuck in the snow... you could lay em under them thar tars and drive up outta dere...

When I was working overseas I would just fill the bed of the 4x4 pickup up with snow, and then I would drive anywhere, usually without bothering to lock the hubs.

The nice thing about this solution is as the weather would warm up, your ballast would self compensate.

The plan might not be optimal for Rob's application...

I love that quote!.... I REALLY love that quote!

Rob... I live in between Baltimore and Annapolis... The almost exact center of these storms. Baltimore said that wwe have broken all records with 6 feet so far between the two storms. I think it finally stopped. I have spent the past 4 days contantly digging, scraping and shoveling.... Plus I am not out of JD... So you know what THAT means.... I'm hittin' the licka sto at some point tomorrow! One way or the other!

    Guys I feel your pain!

The temperatures here are in the mid-thirty's and they are talking about 2-3" of snow and the town is in a panic! The Airport is closed and everyone is raiding the supermarkets!

I have loaded the the Saiga AK's and have my generator ready on the back deck! As bleak as the outcome may be, presently my fiancee and I are determined to survive this!

Please keep us in your prayers......... :p
