    just the foam pads on the plastic sleeve.... another caddy works fine.

    I just couldn't get back into that account because the password i have in Lastpass doesn't work and i dont have the email attached to that account anymore, so no password recovery for me...

    that looks like a failure of the thermostatic control loop ... applied full voltage/current for a long time .
    have you replaced the heater yet ?
    i would be very cautious ...
    a schematic would be helpful in determining what went wrong .

    it depends on where the temperature sense is located and how the heater is driven .
