    Hello LWOS,

Be wary of recommendations from non-Toughbook owners, as they generally do not have a clue as to what is inside our laptops. I believe that all CF-29s are PATA only, and the CF-30 was the first to use the SATA drives. Check the CF-29 FAQ for more info about the drives that the CF-29 can use.

Hope you haven't purchased the SATA drive yet... You can look for a 7200 RPM PATA drive, but they are rare and priced accordingly. You can get decent performance out of the 5400 RPM drives.

Great Glad to hear it. Like the other members said do not listen to NON toughbook owners they do not know what they are talking about as the toughbooks are usually much different than other notebooks.

There are 7200rpm pata drives but have been discontinued and are getting really expensive. You can find them on ebay but at a premium price.

the 160gb 5400rpm is good enough though i have one in my cf-18 and it is still fast.
