Im new to this whole thing cause this has never happened to me before so ill just say the problem.

I recently upgraded a Toughbook CF-19CJBCNBA from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Originally, the CF-19 had a Windows XP hard drive that died and we couldn't recover anything. We had a spare hard drive that was bought with the laptop but it was running Windows Vista and wasn't working properly. We loaded Windows 7 onto it because the owner preferred it over Vista. But.. When we loaded Win 7 the GPS was picking up as a Ball Point Mouse and the curser was jumping all over the screen to the right hand side. I deactivated the Ball Point Mouse in the mouse settings but unfortunately the GPS is also disabled and when i Enable the GPS it starts jumping again.

Normally i wouldn't bother about this, but the GPS was the main reason the owner bought this computer because he needs the GPS functions in the laptop to use a program that helps him with his Tractor components and self steering machinery. I contacted Panasonic on this issue 4 days ago and still have no response. If anyone can please help me with this Issue it will be greatly appreciated as this computer is a main part of how he makes his living.

    1. Disable GPS in BIOS.
    2. Install GPS registry patch.
    3. Enable GPS in BIOS.

P.S. GPS module in that CF-19 MK1 is awful anyway.

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum

I notice some thing, you said this 19 had XP on it until the hard drive died then you installed Vista. When you upgraded to Vista did you also update the BIOS ?? Go here and find your model and click on Vista upgrade program http://www.panasonic.com/business/Toughbook/computer-support-search-downloads.asp

    XP BIOS V1.OOL13
    Vista BIOS V1.01L13

Below is the Windows Vista upgrade Step by Step Guide in pdf

    GPS Fix

After you do the update BIOS go back to the download page and click on Vista for a list of drivers. You will find the GPS Registry Patch Application or click on the link below. This will fix the jumping mouse.

When upgrading to W7 on the CF-19 (and others) I have found the GPS Registry Driver will not install. It takes some doing... But while the mouse is jumping around... go into Device Manager and disable the Serial Ballpoint and that will fix you jumping mouse.

It's much easier to disable in bios, install patch and enable again :))
But I don't see topicstarter reaction.

I agree with you 100% and I always try to do that first. But I have run into instances when switching from XP to W7 where no known GPS Registry Patch will install. Even if I try to manually install it. If you know of patches that work 100%....

    Of course :)
Standard patch works even under Win8 :)
I have U-blox 6 GPS installed and using that patch :)
    Just execute reg file.

Okay... I'm speaking of the CF-30... The GPS Patch may work great for a W7 upgrade on the CF-19 (and yes I know that was what the thread was about) but it won't take on all models. The CF-30 MK1 will not accept any that I have tried.
