My brother-in-law (the car guy in the family) successfully got Win7 installed and working on his mk5 (CF-18NHHZXBM), saw the number of driver issues and promptly asked me (the computer guy in the family) for help.
First off, the existing MK1 and MK2 How-To threads on here are amazing, especially this one by diver864: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/windows-7-on-a-cf-18-mk2.764221/
I followed those and only found two things I needed to do differently:
Now this thing is good to go, with the exception of the touchscreen, which has the issue described by bjornas here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/cf-18-win-7-faulty-touch-screen.634941/
- The audio chipset was different for this model, so I had to install this driver, instead of the ones in the zip file: http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/dl/download/file/006670/s/5cc4a8a23e1c4f39/sound_18_5_d040820.exe
- Discovered the Wifi chipset is Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG, and found a driver here: http://sciologness.com/download/5489/intelr-pro-wireless-2915abg-network-connection.html
He doesn't really need the touchscreen, however, so I'm calling this one a win, and thought I'd share these two additional drivers I found to get this MK5 up and fully functional with Windows 7.
