    Hello Everyone!!

    I have a Toughbook CF-30F3SAXAM.

I want to upgrade the hard drive, I have now a Samsung of 160gb (upgraded before) and I want a 500GB unit.

I will buy Travelstar from HItachi which seems to be a very good HDD.

    Is it worth to buy a 7200rpm (7k500) or a 5400rpm (5k500)?
I know that the 7200 has much higher data transfer speed, but takes more energy also... is it worth it to buy a 7200? will I notice the difference, I mostly run MS office, Firefox(4 to 5 windows at a time), SolidWORKS, excell files all the time. Internet navigation and conference calls...

I also want to make sure that a SATA2 (SATA300) HDD will work in my laptop.

Any other specific recommendation or tip about HDD?

    Thank you very much!!!

I currently run the 7K500 in my MK3 with no problems. I have two of the same in one of those other brand laptops and again, no problems. For the price difference between the two, go for the 7200. As to seeing any difference, that all depends on what applications you are running. Based on what you put in your post, I would think so. The only way to tell for sure is to buy one of each and benchmark each running the exact same programs.
