    Hi.
    New member.

My daughter works at one of the larger nationwide amusement parts in the US. Once a year they auction off (for charity) things of value people left at the park and never, after repeated letters and calls, came to pick them up. My daughter bid on a closed box (blind auction) and got me a Panasonic Toughbook CF-19CHBAXBM (Mk1) for $20. The unit didn't work due to the hard drive being wiped. After many hours and many visits to the Panasonic Toughbook sight and many live chats.... I managed to get it to work with XP...somewhat.

I am looking to find if I can get a copy of the recovery DVD/CD/Whatever so I can get this toughbook working properly. I asked Panasonic and was told they do not sell them.

I realize this is a lot to ask....but can someone help? Nice machine but almost a doorstop with only 50% working.

    Best Regards,
    DrZ

    Your in luck
Here is a link to the main panasonic parts distributor

    http://www.heartlandsi.com/

You will have to phone or email them for the dvd, as they do not have web ordering

The part number for your disk for your cf19 touchscreen is
    DFQX4054LA

If, for some reason, Heartland doesn't have the Recovery Disks in stock... You can load the drivers manually. It will take a few hours for you most likely but at least it would be 100% functional.

    You have a great daughter!

Thank you Alex. Will check out the link and call them this AM. Nice machine....would be a shame to let it be used as a doorstop.

Have downloaded many of the files. Putting them on a large flash drive until I can unzip and place them on a DVD. I was told you can order a full driver set called 'all in one' but the link on the Panasonic Support page is dead. Really like the potential of tossing this machine in my saddle bags when I take the motorcycle for a run and not worry about having a dead machine when I end up where ever.

And yes.... I agree... I have a great daughter!

    Best Regards,
    DrZ

A friend of mine bought a CF-18 for just that reason. He loves it. He carries it in the saddlebags on his Harley and uses it to check email and take notes while on the road. He loves it.

Why you don't use USB Stick and nlite for include sata driver ?

If you use that you have a very clean install off Windows XP

Heck, That's what I should do with my W7. I should load all the Vista drivers on a USB stick and load them that way. I am still stumped!

BTW, the Toughbooks work great on bikes. Just carried mine 600 miles in the trunk of my Goldwing over the weekend!

I am looking for the easiest way but not because I don't understand computers....l just have not had enough time with this machine to discover everything that this machine has to offer. I have ordered the restore disks... price was right...shipping was a rip and have ordered the free all-in-one driver disk. Doing it this way to ensure everything is working according to spec prior to taking it on the road with me.

    Best Regards,
    DrZ

I have an extra panasonic XP All In One Drivers disc. I already have 1 of them, yesterday morning I ordered one for Vista. I recieved a confirmation an hour later from Heartland with the tracking #. I called to confirm it was for Vista, they said yes it works for both. Long story short, they were wrong in that Panny tech told me they dont make one for Vista. So now I will have 2 XP discs. It had already been shipped so I couldnt cancel it. These discs have all the apps and drivers. It is alot easier than downloading them 1 by 1 from Panny.

Let me know if you want one, it might help you!

    Toyo,
Thank you for the offer however the company forced me out on a vacation last week and knowing I wouldn't be doing much... I requested and received the All in one for XP. I used the recovery disk and got the machine working very well. I used the all in one to get the missing support software and such.
Things seem to be working quite well now....so much so... my daughter is offering to repay me the $20 to 'take the machine off my hands!'
LOL.... NOPE!!!! Gave her my HP....lighter, faster, and better for University anyway. Or so I tried to convince her.

    Best Regards,
    DrZ

DrZ... I'm glad to hear another success story! (And yours is one of the better ones!)

Please drop in anytime with any questions/problems you may have! Recovery Disks can be a touchy subject with Big Brother and the advertisers overseeing us... But we really shine in all other areas... ;)
