I had the crappy translucive or whatever screen on my CF-M34. I bought a parts laptop on ebay (that turned out to work fine!) just for the standard screen.

I installed the screen and it works fine but I have to push hard on the screen for the touchscreen to work.

It feels like the cove over the screen is slightly bowed as it doesn't sit flat on the LCD itself. Maybe half a millimeter... not much at all.

What can I do about this? I really don't want to push on the screen as it has ZERO scratches on it!

Aaron.... This is common amongst the older Toughbooks that may have been used in higher heat areas.... The Touchscreen bows out a little. I used to see this all the time on CF-28s that sat in police cars for most of their lives. There is really nothing you can do about this... Short of replacing the screen again.

I have one with the transflective screen that isn't bowed at all. Can I swap the touchscreen? Or will I be ruining gaskets and stuff that I'll never get back in?

If the CF-M34 is the same as the rest the touchscreen is adhered with thin double-sided tape... Plus I think that the tscreen needs to be made originally to work with the LCD...

On my CF-29 I observed that the problem is dependent on temperature change: Actually, it doesn't matter if is hot or cold. BUT, if you put the TB in a hotter area, it seems like the (plastic) touchscreen-foil heats up quicker than the LCD panel and the housin and expands faster (which is logical). Therefore, it bows out in the middle, sometimes more than 1 mm. Then I don't have to use much force, but I have to press the touchscreen foil against the LCD first to get a response. After some time, the housing and LCD panel also get warmer and expand too, so the touchscreen foil touches the LCD panel. Then everithing is perfect again. So in my case, the problem only occurs while the components have to get used to different temperatures.

On my former CF-28 it was different, there was always a big gap between the touchscreen and the LCD.
