Hi everyone. I have a CF-19 which I was issued for work with a digitizer (not a standard touchscreen - has the pen with the button). The pen's worked fine for around the two years I've had it until recently when the "click" function stopped working, i.e. I can still use the pen to move the cursor around, but it doesn't respond when I tap the screen - even putting reasonably solid pressure onto it wont help.

It's got me a bit worried, since I've seen this issue before on an identical machine, but that only happened after a piece of drill core was dropped onto the screen, putting a very obvious divot into it. I've looked quite closely at the screen, and there's no damage that I can see, and the only trauma it's had recently was the stylus accidentally snapping out of my hand due to the stretchy band and hitting it, though I'd not expect that to be enough trauma to break it. It's been through worse in the field. I've had a search through this forum and not seen a similar problem, and I've tried the basic stuff (reboots, recalibration (which, of course, didn't work since I couldn't click the screen)) to no avail.

So I guess I'm just wondering whether this is a common problem, and whether it's a hardware fault that requires a new screen. It's still under warranty, but if it i something I've done I'd rather know and just pay to have it fixed, since I'd have to do that anyway, and this way I can just avoid telling the boss :)

I'm thinking it is a stylus issue....

I 'll go with TB, it's a problem of ur pen. First u can try to pull a little bit the white piece on the top of the pen. Inside of the pen is a coil with a ferrite core. The small white piece has also a ferrite core on his back. If u put ur pen on the screen, the ferrite of the top is pressed onto the core of the coil to tune out the oscillator inside the pen, which got his power from ur screen.
So if ur white top will not move at the moment, it 's mostly because of dust from abrasion from the white piece of plastic. So u can try to use air to blow out the dust of the top. The next try is to disassemble the pen from the back. If u need some pics, I can shot them tomorrow from an opened pen.

Otherwise, a new pen costs about 30$ directly from Panasonic....

Righto, seems like there's a bit of a consensus. I will try ordering a new stylus - much cheaper than a new screen. Thanks guys :)
