junglew.. It seems you are so confused. Here to be Clear. The emmissive keyboard for CF-29 is also compatible to CF-30 and CF-31. It is not made of rubber. It is plastic like those standard one but in diferent construction. It also water sealed. It can handle water spill. It is fully sealed even dust but it need a regular clean up if your work is on a dusty area as a piece of grain may stock between the key cap and membrane.

There are four level of lights on it and Yes! rubber backlit keyboard is sucks but it is best for an autoshop. There are two type of emmissive keyboard for cf-29 & 30 roaming around on Ebay. the one with the red (F11) and the other one, what we called take off coz there are no label to all F key but both are illuminated.

    BTW, thanks for the compl...t,

personally i ENJOY the FEEL of the emmisive. my personal opinion is to get the cf 30 backlit, because well its newer and it has the lock in tabs, where the cf 29 uses double sided tape instead.

i do not think there is a way to remove the tabs either from a cf 30 keyboard

I just took that locking tabbed thing off the stock keyboard when I got my CF-30 and put it on my emmisive keyboard :)
