I am at my wits end with my WIFI on this unit. The issue/problem is that it takes like 3 to 5 minutes to connect when resuming from sleep, opening the lid. From a start up it works perfect.
On my 30 MK2 it is instant no matter the situation.
I have done all the reinstalling of drivers etc with no change at all. I have read that the Intel 5100 is not as good if you will, as the 4965. Any truth to this? Could the actual card be going out?
Thanks guys!

I had issues like that..might even been a 5100..I dont remember...
I solved it by going to Device Manager opening properties for the wifi card and then going to power management..
Disable turn this device off to save power.....
Might also be able to change this under battery/power management in Control panel.UNCNDL1 likes this. -

I did the same thing on my CF-53...no delay now

I'm beginning to really think it might be the card. It's been doing this for about 6 months. -
barring further input on the settings or soft/firmware updates ...
subbing a known good card is about the only way to eliminate this variable from the equation .
(think : barking up the wrong tree) -
I have a cf30 with a 5100 in it..Will test later tonight..
Also uninstall all drivers and download latest driver only package from Intel -
Toyo... If you haven't already... Go into power mgt and set your laptop up on High Performance instead of Balanced... See if it makes a difference. Something you should do especially if you have an SSD installed!

I have a CF30 mk2 with a Intel 5100.
Fresh install of Win7 using a recovery DVD for a CF30 mk3..Swapped the drive and caddy into the mk2.
All I did was set the power setting to "Power Saver"...No other changes.
After it goes to SLEEP, (power light flashing GREEN.) I woke it up and the WIFI works instantly....
I think you may want to replace the 5100 card.UNCNDL1 likes this. -
Thanks guys. I either tried all the suggestions either recently or in the past. Do you guys have a suggestion as a replacement card or am I stuck with getting another 5100? I have not kept up with the hardware upgrades hardly in the last year or so.

The card of choice for me is a Ubiquiti SR-71E.
My second choice would be a Intel 5300 and install a third antenna somewhere as the 5300 can handle 3 antennas. Do not get a 5300 from a HP or IBM. They won't work.
-
Shawn I will check out the Ubiquiti SR-71E card you suggested. I'm familiar with the 5300 somewhat. What do you like or prefer in the Ubiquiti card over the Intel?
-
It is a 400mw card with extended range...
The Intel is 50 or 100mw at best -
-
gee ...
thanks for the suggestion shawn ...
now i have to find one of those to slip into my '30 ! -
Shawn,
I took your suggestion and ordered a Ubiquiti SR-71E (from Newegg for $49).
I plan to put it in my Mk3 which came stock from Panasonic with Win7. I reloaded it from the restore disc so, will Win 7 automatically provide the needed drivers or do I need to download them from somewhere?
Thanks
Brian
PS: you may want to check your PMs on TBT -
I think you will need to install its driver. There is a throttle for the card I believe...
I need to to install mine in the CF-31. -
-
Thanks Sarge,
When it gets here I'll experiment a bit and post back. -
The PM on TBTwas about whether you're still interested in the CF-VDM302AU we talked about earlier with Rob.

Yes I know, I just have not responded yet...Sometimes I am slow....I DO try to THINK before my mouth opens.

yeah , i have the same problem from time to time . -
I was just messing around with it and was able to get it to connect immediately out of sleep if I manually turned the wifi switch off then back on. If not, it takes 70 seconds to connect every time. This only happens coming out of sleep mode.
-
disable the wifi switch in BIOS?
Pin 20 mod eliminates the wifi switch also.. -
If I disable the switch in the BIOS the WIFI will still work??
-
good question...try it and let us know...
-
I never messed with the switch setting in the BIOS before. It does disable the function of the switch but does not disable WIFI. Unfortunately it did not help with my problem....

Have you tried a Linux Live CD on this issue?
Speaking of which I would not use Lubuntu only because it does something screwy as far as locking the WLAN....just happened to me and I haven't taken time to trace it yet.
Mint17 should work nice....if you don't mind the flickering screen on a MK1 or 3. Mk 2 no flicky. Close /re-open lid and flicker disappears.
What wireless manager BTW? I have about every M$ unit set to have Windows manage the wireless.UNCNDL1 likes this.
Help please with my 30/MK3 WIFI
