hey guys, i'm upgrading the RAM for my buddy's CF-18DHAZXKM and have been running into some issues. I have the same exact model toughbook and tried putting my 1gb ram stick in his with no luck. i try to power up and it wont even go to the bios, just a blank screen. then i take the RAM out and it works fine. does this mean he has motherboard issues or a bad RAM "terminal" ?

Also, what kind of RAM does this take exactly? i'm no expert and i've already bought 2 of the wrong types of RAM sticks for it.

Winner gets both of the wrong chips i bought!

you need DDR PC2700, 200pin. Make sure to verify the exact model on the bios. Do not rely on the buttom case coz sometimes the previous owner changed the case or the buttom cover from different model without interchanging the sticker.

There are some posibilty; It may be not seated properly, there some shrted pin on the base or corrosion. Try cleaning it out by a used toothbrush but of course no toothpaste on it, :D
