    hallo.....

    sorry for my bad english.....

    i need help, please

the cpu fan of my cf52CD....mk1 running always. is this normal ?
the cf 52 have no temp problem, the fan is running in the first 2-3 minutes after cold start. (cpu and all other temperature is lower than 28 C/82F, the fan is on)

    thx.....for your help.

problem in deutsch, first the translator:

    danke in voraus, thx

1000 thx for your reply :)))

the complete model nr is CF 52 CDKBVAG.

    thx

Check ur running tasks (all users), msconfig, services, virus scanners. Also ur energy settings.

What is the bios version? I seem to remember a similar problem that was related to the bios somehow. A bios flash solved the issue..

I am not positive, but it appears that your cf 52 is an ex telecom machine. It may have a custom bios...
I will search for the previous post.

can the software release from: Embedded Controller the problem be?
the controller controls but the cpu fan?
are the two software BIOS and Embedded Controller OK, or the problem?

I have found but it is not my problem with the cpu fan ...

I think a bios update may solve the problem..You will need to wait for someone who has a newer bios to send a copy to you. I don't have one for a cf52C

Do you have a Linux Live CD to try? I use them for diagnostics and to verify that my problems are not software related.

My choice for this would be Linux Mint 13 or 15. Ubuntu is good too. 12.04 LTS. (Long term support)

    Google translate says:

12.04 LTS. (Long Term Support)

Translated from above response. It seems to do it without any drive connected also..

R is the complete 52 cdkbvag cf.

please try to help me, I find no more possibility in germany.
my fan is always running. in the cpu idle (idl), he also runs always, clearly audible and the air flow is also clearly perceptible.
I do not know if he would settle faster. but he always runs in the cold state. laptop is too cold for it to run the fan.

the problem is not related to the operating system in a test without HDD and DVD device also runs the fan immediately in BIOS mode.

    ask for help and info

    good morning guys ....

@ jeffI know myself and not nit linux ubuntu from which is to simply let the system simpler times run from a usb stick?maybe it would be enough if linux is finished and I started watching the fan?thanks for your idea.

@ shawnwhere can I get the BIOS, I do not know?I find this on the net not much, only in your forum, because once the WWAN Gobi was retrofitted and made a BIOS update.I've just been back since the other (second) HDD (Samsung HM160HI) fitted with new win7 in the CF52.Since the fan is running IMMEDIATELY when finished booting win7 readable hat.alle temperatures below 33 degrees Celius (91F)with xp sp3 it does not start until after a few minutes.if a mechanical defect or would exist on mainboard, it would be no different with other operating system??

what do you think .... thx 1000, michel

Someone on this forum will have a bios. You will have to wait until they read your post. Not as many people are on the forum on Sat or Sun..

Yes Jeff is talking about booting to Linux or Ubuntu. A USB stick or CD will work to test your system.

If the result is identical with Linux then:

    1. Shawn is right. Wait for bios upgrade or
    2. You may have mechanical problem.

Drivers are included with Linux. No additional drivers are necessary. Each time Linux loads, it writes kernel including drivers for the equipment that it sees (detects). If equipment is NOT DETECTED then it means mechanical problem or bios issue.

    From terminal try this:

    Code:
    dmesg | grep cooling
my CF-52 say acpi device:01: registered as cooling device

    Above for your information.

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install acpi
    then
    Code:
    man acpi
    #manual for acpi

    Code:
    acpi -V
    #shows all acpi devices

    Many items to look at.

    Good luck.

    Jeff

    hi jeff
Thanks for your instructions.the first command I could not type "dmesg | grep cooling"from the second command is nothing more left. He then reports the error that ACPI is available. from there I can not run no more with your input.is probably so because it runs from the CD without installation!.
what a silly problem-just because the fan always running.

could you make me a Screeshot of the input?

    thank you, michel

    You are correct.

Another one that lists (ls) all hardware (hw) is:
    Code:
    sudo lshw
You can get some information with
    Code:
    dmesg | grep acpi

I am with CF52-Axxxxxxxx and I have the same issue since I bought it (second hand). The fan is always on, regardless if the system is idle or on load. It's 100% NOT OS related because I did a clean reinstall between both XP, Windows 7 and once a FreeBSD. Fan starts since I start the system and it never slows or offs until I shut down.

I have a CF-52CCABVBM with BIOS: V1.54L25 and EC: V1.50L12. I can copy the BIOS and send it to you if you think it will work. The fan seems to run normally. I will check tomorrow. I just did a restore and am doing MS Updates atm.

    Mine is "CF-52AJCBDBM"

The battery is original 7.8Ah (as far as I remember) - lasts around 4 hours (as I said - the fan is always on). Could be less if the usage is stronger. I usually use it for Internet only.

P.S. Ups, Shawn was even better than me - he found my BIOS rev :)

The CF-52CCABVBM I was working on has had a full restore and all MS updates. The fan starts running once Windows is loaded. Temp of CPU sits about 30C at idle.
@cf52, are you saying your fan is running at top speed or running at a very low speed? If it is running at top speed, you have a problem. If it is running at a low speed and/or cycling on/off/on/off then it is operating normally and the only problem you have is sensitive hearing. :D
If you need more battery life, shutting the fan off will not make very much difference. Undervolting your cpu will give much better results. Buying a second battery is another way to increase your unplugged runtime.

It's not at full speed - the fan is running at low speed. But again - it's sensless to have the fan running when CPU temp is 30C when C2Duo can handle 50C with no problems...

Things like "quietness" and "less dust in the body of the laptop" are not unimportant. I wish that there was a fan control... but there's not.

good morning ...thank you for your great help here.my fan is always running nin. with slower speed that's right.Yesterday I started ubuntu times as version live cd and there intentionally watched video (you tube). I've noticed that when the video is fan speed faster and slower in still image again, so the board regulates the fan. which is ever good, I think.I have already read all sorts of temperatures, but a GPU was not there. maybe the GPU's too warm because temperature paste is missing or bad.ye by this experience? ......thank you for your reply, michl

I'm stuck with a problem. I will the next time the device remove and look for the thermal grease times. I have the suspicion that it might be the GPU which can derive no heat. I do not know.I'm writing here when I know more.if one still has an idea, please write here.thx micha

Just use afuwin to save ur BIOS. With AMIBCPv4.53 u can adjust at the point Debug/ThermalConfiguration/ActiveTripPointFanSpeed at which temperature the fan speeds up and turn to low.

Sadly I reached the limit here to upload pictures, so I can't add a pic to help u out. ( And I don't want to delete some old pics here...)
