Will the outer lid from a MK 1 with 12.1" Touchscreen fit on a MK 2 with 13.3" Touch screen?

I mean, has anyone here tried it & they KNOW it works?

I realize the inside bezel is obviously different; but my new MK 2 arrived today & the top side is beat up pretty badly, while I have a very nice top side on my MK 1.

I'd like to find out BEFORE I tear both apart, or worse... find out the crunchy way...

I would say 'no fit.' With the inner dimensions being significantly different its obvious to me that is will not work.

Perhaps the OP could supply us with photographs with a tape measure showing corresponding dimensions??

If you just received it, why don't you call the manufacturer and ask them to replace it? Or send you a whole new unit? Is it brand new?

The outer lid is the same dimensions whether it be a 12.1" or 13" screen. The difference is the front bezel which has a bigger border for the 12.1" screen. Trust me I just replaced a couple of them.

Again, is this an option for you, or did you buy it as a known refurb?

tough-to-go is correct on this. The outside dimensions ARE the same, the only difference on the 12 is the inside bezel.

Perfect example of why I would recommend using "CF-28" in the thread title....

It scares away the strays

Those boys aint from around here <spit> ... (Georgia accent) :rolleyes2:

    It'll fit, with a but!

All MK2s have the little bump out at the top area of the bezel on each side, while only some MK1s (gravitar had the only one I've ever seen actually) had that little bump.

I don't recall it having a gasket in the bump, so it should work for sealing, but it'll look funny.

But being a guy that test fit a GPS antenna in some half dozen spots for clearance, I'll tell you that it'll screw on. Oh, and if you want a swiss cheese upper casing... I'm the guy to see ;)

    First off -

Guys, I'm sorry about this; I didn't realize that the phrase "Dumb question" would attract so much err... attention.

Next time, I'll be SURE to modify my title to ensure that my very model-specific question stays in it's own pasture, instead of wandering so far afield.

Greg - I don't mean any disrespect in this, but if you took a moment to re-read the ENTIRE post and "grok in fullness" instead of assuming I'm an idiot, you'd understand that I already KNOW the inner bezel is different. My question was VERY specific, and aimed at the modders in THIS group.

I DO appreciate helpful comments, and I don't assume anything - including the idea that maybe the MFR used the same outer cover with different bezels for different sized LCDs.

Thennnk youuuu.... thennnk youuu vurrry muuuuuch... :elvis:

PS - ARGGGHHHHH! I went back to try and edit the original post to try & filter out this silliness, but OF COURSE, the only part I can't edit is the thread title. (Hangs head in shame)

    Modly -

You and I must've gotten the same MK 1 then; cuz I'm looking at them side by side & I can't see any difference, aside from the fact that my MK 2 looks like a day in Beirut  , while my MK 1 merely looks like a day in the Bronx... :eek2:
