If some of you guys are having your IE feeze up or stop responding there is a Hotfix from MS that fixes this. I applied it the 1st of the week and so far I have not had any since. This article will lead you to it.

Thanks, I have experienced this issue with M$ IE before, it was so bad that my new plan is Firefox to fall back on for those times that they seem to be content to let their Browser screw my computer for months on end.

On my 29 I only use IE on the few sites that don't seem to like any other browser (like the Panasonic Configuration page).
Chrome is the first choice because of the low overhead, really snappy on that machine.
Firefox is a close second, closer now as that program has become much leaner.
IE is a bloated HOG! I do like how you can highlight words and search for them from within a page. However it's just so slow and resource hungry I leave it alone.

Highlighting, right clicking, and searching in a new tab is one of my favorite features in Firefox. IE has been gone from my computer for a long time. Other than the Panasonic Configurator I almost never happen on a site that won't work with Firefox.

Sweet! Didn't even realize you could search from the body of text like that in Firefox! Man, cant believe I missed it.

IE is for updating windows. That's all I have as a homepage for it.

I don't even bring it up for that.
I go to start menu, all programs, Windows Update, and it brings up the update window (at least in Vista and Win7).

I've been having ome weird issues with IE8 and W7 in general. I was thinking about going back to XP because of this. I do use Chrome sometimes... But (I hate to admit this) I do prefer IE7 over all of them. But you can't do that with W7...

I've had issues with my networks just disappearing... Losing my print server.... And then... When I get them all back... They go again.... I still can't print from IE8... I never had an issue with IE7...

W7 starter kit on the acer one makes me envy it... I usually do automatic updates as well but I end up finding more items manually going to the site. As for vista my only workings is in 64 on my moms comp and it is to the point updates make it worse.

That is amazing to hear so many problems you guys have with IE8. I really don't run into too many problems. I have tried FF alot of times, along with some others, but I always end up with some of my sites not being compatible. My Ironkeys have FF on them, I guess I should try it again since it's been awhile. Maybe they have fixed some of the problems.

I just started using FF again and was trying to come up with a way to view the Panasonic config page. I got it to show the info when requested but for some reason, FF will not consistently show the info by repeating those steps. I actually wrote up a response to this thread detailing how I did it. I went back to look at it again and it wouldn't show again. I could not repeat it. I found another way and same thing, I can't repeat it consistently. Oh well, I thought it was worth a try.

I just started to have problems with IE8 freezing. This has been going on for a couple of weeks. I figured some errant hotfix was causing the problem. I've used Firefox for a while and like it. Also been using Google Chrome. Chrome seems very fast.

My pet peeve about IE8 is that many sites with Flash tell me that I have to install Flash Player every time I visit them, even though the latest Flash Player is installed. D*mn protected mode, saving me from myself.
