Does anybody hear know anything about tethering? I have been reading on some info on www.evdoforums.com about doing it. It seems you have to buy a modem.

I have the Verizon card in my CF30 and would like to be able to set it up so that when we are traveling my son can use my wifi signal from my computer. One time I remember he was in the car with me and he had his Ipod turned on and he was getting my signal, but could not connect. I have not seemed to get it to do it again though. I know for a fact it was mine he was getting. I believe you can pay Verizon a small additional monthly fee to tether, but I have no idea what all is required to do this.

If anybody has such experience please share! Have you noticed the wireless hubs that are coming out for just this purpose? But, I already have a card so I do not want to buy another verizon hub.

Can you set up the cf-30 to bridge conections using the wwan + your wi-fi
I know that windows has the abitity to bridge, and then you can share the singe conection with other computers

Come on Alex! You know you can't ask simple questions like that to me! Walk me or explain a little more in depth of what you think I can do. LOL

BTW, I am on St Barts Island right now. I was thinking telling my wife about you the other day. Those big, beautiful yachts coming in just make me sick! I am sure you have been down here before?

I don't know if this helps or not but I posted a forum at howardforums.com here back in March of 2006: http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=875632

Howard forums is pretty much the best site to try to get help for this. I was an active member on that from early 2004 until about the end of 2006 where I don't post much anymore (cell phones used to be my hobby until I found Toughbooks :D)

@toyo: Sorry, but maybee I do'nt understand u. First make a connection with ur WWAN and start internet-connection-sharing over ur wifi-card, which will now get the IP 192.168.0.1 . Every device, which should be connected with ur Laptop need an IP in the same range and the IP above as proxy. ...
I used this often, to connect my other TB's to the internet via the CF-19 with the internal-card.

Yeah Rick... I used to hack and pack cell phones too... Now I obviously hack and pack Toughbooks :D - What is your handle on HoFo? I usually hang out in the Nextel/Sprint area as that is what I've had for the last 5 years...

JB, I read your post on that board. Some of those guys jumped your can a little. Those guys are a little anal! That is a very informative web site, though I couldnt find my info.

onirakkiss, I went to the properties on my card and selected "Sharing". Well that sent my connection into a tail spin, so I had to change it back. I guess I will play around with it to see what I can do. I know it will work, it did one time by accident for my son??

Thanks for your help. I need detailed step by step tips or my head starts to swell. LOL

    OK, You want easy :)

Forget about sharing+ bridging within windows
Unless one of the networking experts here want to explain how to do it easily

What you have now is the internet comming in from your wwan card to your cf-30, and what you need to do is to share it to a nearby wi-fi enabled laptop

You need to add an access point

Here is a link to a Hardware solution that will do what you want

    http://synetusa.com/

This is a usb adapter that can be configured easly as an AP
Read up on it, after a lot of research it looks like your best choice
