My screen is not as tight as it once was. I realize that things are never like new, but I want to make sure that at least the screws are tight, or have not loosened up. Any direction would be greatly appreciated!

You would want to tighten the hinges to tighten the screen. This will make it less floppy/flimsy. If the screen just falls and doesn't seem right then you would have to replace both the hinges.

You have to remove the four screws above the keyboard and remove that black metal strip. Then remove the 2 screws on the back of the hinge covers to remove those hinge covers. Once you get the hinge covers off then you will be able to tighten the hinges to the main unit.

    Good luck! :)

Ok, I got it done. Here are the steps you need to take to tighten the screen assembly.

    1. Remove 4 screws on the cover in the back of the keyboard.
    2. Remove 1 screw on the back side of the hinge cover.
    3. Remove the 1 screw on the left holding the blue tooth antenna to the cover. Pull it out of the way gently.
    4. Remove 1 screw holding down the hinge cover under the BT antenna.
    5. Remove 2 screws on the right hinge cover-front.
    6. Open screen all the way open.
    7. Remove hinge covers.
    8. You will see a 7mm nut that holds the screen tight. Tighten the nuts on each side to your desired lid tightness.
    9. Replace in reverse order.

I hope this helps some people tighten there screen. I am not sure if the 28, 29 are the same.

might want to put some Loctite while you're at it so the nut doesn't come out as easy next time. It's probably vibration and stress that's loosening that nut... putting some Loctite in there will keep it in its place.

You are very correct. I wanted to make sure this is at the feeling I want to stay with. The way they designed it, you can make the friction of the movement however you want it. They must have 20 washers, spacers on each side to make it very fluid like. If you ever do, or have, then you know what I am talking about.

I wonder if Panny would frown upon using Loctite while under warranty? I would hope not, however there is alot of electrical parts right there. I can just see some dumbass dripping some on the BT board.

If I am happy with this firmness after a couple of days in the vehicle dock.

My first thought would be to put locktite on it too... But you need to leave it adjustable. It's easy enough to tighten it up every year or two....

TB, You bring up a good question. Mine had come loose after 4 months of ownership. I am hoping it's just because of being in my van where it is subject to a little bit more of vibration when the screen is open. I really like the tension I have it set at right now. I might go in there and apply some.
