    How upgradeable is the CF-48?
Does it use the same parts/battery/power supply as my CF51 Pentium-M and CF-51 Core Duo?

    Thank you

That would be nice to find out. That's one toughbook we don't hear to much about.

I haven't got one of these yet but have bid on some and bidding right now on one. These are your forerunner to the 50 series. They take a cf-28 battery, Mk 3 to Mk6 had optional wireless. Mk1 to Mk3 were Pentium 3, Mk4 Pentium 4 M, Mk5 and Mk6 are the Pentium m models. RAM on mk1 and Mk2 is 384 max, mk3 and mk4 512mb, Mk5 mk6 is 768 know max. That is from the published specs. I have seen some on ebay with over 1 gb of RAM. I am not sure of screen resolution but the Mk5 and 6 have ATI 9000 card. They seem as solid as the rest of the toughbook line. IDE arrive. were you looking for mods other than your basic HD, RAM, etc? I am not sure if the CPU is upgradeable on this model yet.

Uses the same battery as a cf28/cf50
Good OEM batteries are made from unobtainium.
Beware of aftermarket. Buy from someplace with a good return policy. I had trouble with an aftermarket battery only working in certain mk's and not in other's.
Same power supply as cf28 (older style) Some Sony's will work. I have a model PCGA-AC16V6.
Large LCD is same as some cf50's.
If you have the HDD cover, you don't need an official caddy. A neoprene sleeve works great!
Personal choice would be to get a cf50 instead. A cf50 is a better built and MUCH better looking machine.
If I recall correctly, the keyboard is the same as a cf50.

I read somewhere that the CPU is hard soldered to the motherboard.
