The model number is CF19RDRAMDA. Is this the card under the back, if not what is it? How do I activate it and and test the functionality? I bought it on ebay and it was advertised that it had GPS, I contacted the seller and he said it was working. I have no way to confirm this.

That is the port for the dock.

    Download Winfast Navigator. by Leadtek
Run it..GPS will be on com3 at 4800 baud.

Picture is the dock connector showing dual pass through.
Show us the right rear corner. Is there a box screwed on the side behind the hard drive door? That would be the antenna.

Is this model number from first page of bios? Unusual number.
In bios advanced page go to serial port hit enter.
If it has a working gps you should see two serial ports and gps maybe other stuff.

"I bought it on ebay and it was advertised that it had GPS, I contacted the seller and he said it was working. I have no way to confirm this."

it is confirmed that it is not working ... obviously .
the next question : is the card working (or even present) ... based on the events thus far , it would be prudent to open up the unit and check .
it may be that the seller had more than one unit for sale and you got this one that was "not as advertised" .
you might want to tell the seller about this .

question and conformation for/by the more knowledgeable ; does the '19 use a single card for factory wlan and gps (such as the '30) ?

The CF19 does have a place for a dedicated GPS board and antenna.

The CF19 could have a MC7750 WWAN card which has GPS on it. It can use the WWAN antenna. This has been seen in the wild on a CF19 mk5.

It could have either of these GPS setups.
While I would only consider the dedicated board as the OEM GPS module. Uninformed sellers will call the WWAN based GPS an OEM setup.
The CF 52 and CF53 along with Toughpads all use the MC7750 based GPS as the oem setup.
BTW the MC7750 can use a dedicated GPS antenna. I have also been informed that this setup works pretty darn good especially on a CF19.

I definitely already wrote to the seller. I asked if GPS was present and working and he said GPS is working. I checked the BIOS and there's no indication of a card, ran the Leadtek Navigator application and it couldn't find a GPS signal.

What kind of dedicated antenna can the MC7750 use, like a USB antenna?

The best option is the OEM receiver right? How about a USB receiver that I could mount on top of a car or van or other high point? I just found a used OEM Panasonic GPS on ebay for $70 bucks, should I cancel the order and get an aftermarket?

yeah ... if it's not too late to cancel , i would go with the one in the first link .

my question to the seller would be :
"how can the gps work if there is no card present , no indication in the bios that it is present and no antenna ?"
sounds like "three strikes" to me .
internal pictures to physically confirm "what really is what" would be helpful .
maybe the guy has more than one machine . ask him if it is possible that he has another machine in mind . this may be an honest mistake on his part .
i take it that your conversations are through/via ebay ?
it is good to have a written record .

i have used the gps in my '30 in the car and it works perfectly .
the unit is an after-market that really performs well .
it is an option that is about twice as much as the one in the link .
i don't believe an external device is needed ... unless the receiver is buried in a van . try the built-in before springing for an external usb type .

The CF-19 MK 4 /5 are far and away the best dual purpose antennas from personal experience. WWAN/GPS=dual purpose.
BUT, a unit sold as GPS should have a REAL gps......if no side mounted antenna THEN a custom ublox or similar with a dedicated antenna.
    Just saying.

CWB32 is part of the same consortium...through Shawn.
Most dealers hav'na a clue. Is it their fault?
Cheaper way on a machine you own entirely is pull 13 screws and send a clear picture. NOT recommended on a unit in ...what's the word....contention?

"NOT recommended on a unit in ...what's the word....contention?"
    or bones thereof .
    :D :p

true that ... unless it were in front of three witnesses whose veracity is above reproach .
    even then ... :mask:

there is a possibility as to why the gps is not working ... albeit a slim one .
for the sake of flipping all the stones ... and contempt prior to investigation :
is it possible that *somehow* the fly-speck sized fuse for the circuit that powers up the associated gps usb port went south between the time that he installed the module and when he shipped the '19 ?
still , this begs the question of "no gps antenna visible" .
(trying to give a fair shake here)

it is up to the OP as to what he wants to do ...
i am/was just pointing out some facts .
when it comes to ebay dealin's ... i will bet dollars to donuts that those of us here (in these forums) have had some less than simple one-shot transactions .

what's the differnce between the sony and leadtek? I'm a yank in aus. the seller of the sony card and antenna says it's ready to go but can't be shipped til monday anyway.

unless these is a massive difference the sony is 40 bucks cheaper and a name brand . im using this rig for uav mapping and surveying in the outback.

until the others weigh in ...
as i recall , the sony can not "access" as many birds at one time as the leadtek .
the sensitivity and S/N of the leadtek is better than that of the sony .

pictures of the outback would be fair recompense for our humble services here .

Larry CWB32 is correct. The Sony has 12 channels and the Leadtek has 20. Leadteks seem to be more sensitive.
I am guessing that "in the outback" without buildings in the way, the Sony will perform well enough for your needs.
All of my models give me a location after connecting with three satellites. How many more do I really need?
The antenna is more important than the module in my opinion.
Main difference between aftermarket and any OEM GPS is aftermarket has battery backup. That means it remembers your location when you shut the computer off. That saves 30 seconds when you restart. If you moved the computer battery backup won't help.

Did Panasonic use Sony cards as OEM? This is the reply from the seller:

"The item was already shipped before getting this missive. See the tracking info.
All I have is the original OEM panasonic GPS module. No idea what the leadtek's is.
Sorry, mate, there is nothing I can do at this moment."

The CF-19 GPS slot has also an option to install a battery back up. It is located beside the GPS connector board. The type of battery is the same as the cmos battery with a male connector and pigtail.

Sometimes it's best to give just the short SIMPLE answer. Saves a bunch of questions later. The OEM cmos batteries are cheap anyway.

Remember you have to isolate the antenna box well from your laptop case.
I had a big problem with radio interference after standard installation. Had to remove antenna and insert additional layer of adhesive tape.
    And symptoms were... marvelous :)
Internal GPS could never find satellites and it's interference also completely jammed all GPS signals in ~5m distance :)) Even my external u-blox M8 had problems!

I haven't gotten any further with the GPS installation due to other projects but this last post is a bit cryptic. How do I isolate the antenna box? With tape, where?
