Title says it all... I am interested in buying an inexpensive CF-18/19 which means that it may not have a caddy. How hard are they to find and how much are they? A brief search on ebay/google didn't show many and they were outrageous ($100-$150). Curious if anyone could suggest a better place to acquire one from.
Thanks!!

The cf-18 cf-19 caddies are a rare find on ebay. They will usually go for $150 plus on ebay even if you ever find one.
You can buy one from heartland ( www.heartlandsi.com) for around $100 but the shipping is going to be around $30.
These are really the only place you will find the caddy.

I was afraid that they were going to be difficult to find. I'll keep the additional cost in mind when considering purchasing a CF-18 without one. -
Most of the 18's and 19's for sale do have a caddy included
But if you find a unit for sale without, you will find that the caddys are really hard to find used
I have only seen 3 cf-18 caddys come up on ebay in the last 9 months and without hard drive for around $170 each
I purchased a new cf-19 caddy a few weeks ago aprox $100
James was ordering his fingerprint reader for his cf-19 from Heartland services and was kind enough to include in his order, the cf-19 caddy that I needed (Thanks again James)

Just got off the phone with Heartland -- KS facility.
Those folks are amazingly helpful ... and the prices are very reasonable.
Thanks for the heads up.
After a year of researching the Toughbook line, I swallowed hard and picked up a CF-19. Marvelous machine with a stiff learning-curve.
But it looks to be worth it.
I just found this site, and I think it's gonna be a lifesaver. -
Rhaj... Welcome to the site... Yes, this place is a lifesaver. You can also read for weeks about all the stuff, issues, fixes, mods, etc. There are a lot of helpful intelligent people around here.
How hard is it to find a CF-18 caddy?
