:hi2: Welcome to the 30 club :hi2: -
Blair is correct. I just installed an Intel 335 Series 240GB ssd into my CF-30CAS and loaded W7, following the guide on the forum, and the unit is fantastic, or should I say fast fantastic. It will be money well spent.
-
You are very welcome..
Jeff...hey Azrial...need a twin for your unit... -
-
Come on now, the 29 will look great next to your future CF25,27,28, etc, etc, lol
-
Well I give up! X?%$#
I really like Windows 7 on my Dell XLP 8500 so I thought why not on my CF-30 MK1.
Changed to Vista bios downloaded all the drivers and spent way too much time trying to get it all working.
Ran pretty well but in my book it was still way too "QWERKEY" and I was always trying to get it better but never
as good as XP.
Restored to XP and have my CF-30 back the way it is supposed to be.

Bob...what was the problems you were having. I have W7 on both of my 30's and they work great.
-
The biggest problem was trying to get touch calibrated. XP works so good and never could 7 to be as fluid and do as good.
Also hot keys were finicky and didn't work the same each time I adjusted with them. -
OK never say never. Stuck on one last thing and need help.
I can't get the GPS patch to be accepted by the registry. I don't seem to have permission and get an error to that effect.
What and how do I change permissions so I can do that.
Thanks
Bob -
You just need to download another type. I think I downloaded the GPS Patch for an MK3... Just make sure you have the GPS disabled in the BIOS when you apply the patch... Then reboot and turn it back on... -
OK, I am confused.
I installed Win7-Pro and then reflashed to the Vista BIOs. Yes, I know that I was not supposed to do it in that order, but I did. Anyway, all of the Win7 included drivers work fine on my install so far! My hotkeys work as well. My Touchscreen even works, but needs calibration.
So, Why are we installing the old Panasonic sound, touchpad, and video drivers? Am I missing something? Is there some sort of nasty conflict waiting on me down the road if I don't use the older Panasonic drivers? Everything is working in Device Manager except, "Biometric CoProcessor" and two "Unknown Device(s)." I am pretty sure that the Biometric Co Processor" is my fingerprint reader, but have not figured out what the other two are yet...
BTW one "unknown device" is Hardware ID *MAT0019 and the second is *MAT0021. EDIT: Hotkey driver is MAT0019 and Misc driver is MAT0021. Also, why when we go to edit own posts do we lose the ENTER key function? -
I have everything working on the Windows 7 side now! This page was very helpful in getting the Fingerprint Reader working! I found a FTP of the software that is loaded on the Toughbooks here, but am unsure of which version that we need for Win7 on the Toughbook. Check it out here!

I hope someone is still watching this thread. I have 2 cf30s that need to be upgraded to win 7. I have everything downloaded, but I cant get win 7 to even install. During setup, at the part before you select a hard drive to install too, I am getting prompted for a driver. The message is "A required CD/DVD driver device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
I looked through Robs driver list and on Panasonics website, but there is no driver for a CD/DVD driver. I am using an OEM copy of win 7. Is there a Panasonic version somewhere that I can download? -
What's your full model numbers from main page of bios.
FYI for the MK1 you need Vista bios and ec. L20 L11 if memory serves. (MK1 only)
Don't worry, someones always watching.
Welcome to the nuthouse.

Good news, booting from a USB flash drive worked. Win 7 is installing. I will update again for the community if I come across any other problems.

On your vdrrt3 drive were you using the OEM USB cable. This has happened to me and found that the cheap cable I was using was not any good.

Someone in the MK2 thread I think showed that to get the hotkeys to work correctly across the board that you needed to install the older version of the video driver. Since I started doing that my Fn keys work for everything. (And show up on the screen as doing so!) It might be posted earlier in this thread... But definitely on the "How to install W7 on an MK2 model" thread... -
I am having issues getting the cf-30 mk1 with vista to even recognize the pen touching the screen. Ive loaded all the drivers from Rob's site I have the correct bios I dont know what I am doing wrong can you help me? -

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook Forum
Yours is a MK2
-
Yes win7 will work on your cf30 mk2
Short answer is to use cf30 mk3 drivers for everything but the video. Use the cf30 mk1 windows vista video driver.
I suggest as soon as you get it all installed and running, to use Acronis and make a restore disk. -
I am running windows 7 on my Mk2. It runs fine.
-
I have done 2 mk1 win 7 upgrades so far, after finding this thread everything went fine. Got a buggy touchscreen on one but it kinda works, might be my next hanger queen
-
How does one install the misc driver?? It's in util2/drivers/newmisc, but there is nothing on installing and brecal won't setup because it's not available... Am running a virgin installation of windows home premium 7 on a cf30 mk1casazbm.
-
To see the misc driver in Device Manager you must first update the BIOS to run W7. The MK1 is set to run XP... You need to update it to run Vista. Then you can go into Device Manager and click on one of the unknown devices and point it to the driver!
-
But I am running windows 7 now, and the touchscreen works. but it needs to be calibrated... I thought this 'misc' driver thing was at fault...

What BIOS version are you using ???
This needs to be done to install it. -
I just checked it and it appears to be V1.00L19...
-
toughasnails Toughbook Moderator Moderator
Nope...you need to update the BIOS. Go back to page 1 and it will tell you how. It is very easy.

toughasnails Toughbook Moderator Moderator
Since your BIOS is a 19 then this at one time was updated and then downgraded back to XP because it has the same version as my CF-30MK1 . We have helped a lot of members get there touchscreen working RIGHT on W7 but it all starts with updating the BIOS to the Vista BIOS.

Thank you, Toughasnails... I missed the post where you said the bios had to be updated.
Done and things are working.
Thank you also for commenting, toughbook. I actually do read well enough when the stuff shows up... -
