The information on and availability of these MODEMs seem very sparse...
Any tips or alternative MODEMs that are able to achieve making calls on my CF-31 (signature)

Turns out the S80 doesn't work in the US but the MOBITEK Q25 Type S-L-A does but nothing to interface the handset for voice operation.... The carriers are AT&T & Tmo.

If HSDPA IS possible on Sierra, does anybody know how its enabled?
I'm assuming it pops up automatically if the introduction of a voice enabling device is presented....

Since all the carriers seem to be going VoLTE for calls you might need a modem that supports that protocol. You might find Quectel modems that support VoLTE available but not sure if the CF-31 supports those. Some models did.

Ok, after much digging. the closest and most compact and convenient solution Ive found is....
the Sierra Wireless AirCard 750

Now I just need to figure out what an appropriate CRC9 antenna upgrade would be.

I think you'll need an MVNO to get anything besides VoLTE for voice in the US. Some have said that US Mobile allows it but an internal card that allows VoLTE would be your best bet as it is future proof.
