    Testing my multi-quote skills now . . .

Politically correct term these days is Administrative Assistant -- secretary is apparently demeaning

    I always avoided de-mean secretaries.. I like de-pleasant ones.. :D

This is not aimed at you Ken, You just brought up a "Hot" topic for me.
I will go on a rant about political correct words and names...Pet peave...
A rose by any other name is still a rose...
It's just letters to form a word, nothing more, nothing less. We can call someone any word we choose. The word won't change how we respect them. or how we don't....A flight attendant servers passengers of an airplane..So does a stewardess....
The name change does absolutely NOTHING...Not even their opinion of themselves, which is the real issue.
I can be called a mechanic, a technician, a service man, grease monkey, or a customer service representative....My opinion of myself is still the same..My wages won't change, nor will how people treat me...
Manure is still manure no matter what name you choose to call it. It can be a useful product or just stink. It all depends on ones opinion and not what name we call it.

    rant over

    i agree ...
the use of P.C. word-smithing is also an attempt to take the corners off of sharp-edged descriptive commentary ...
and it also removes the immediacy , verve and intensity of import .
it is like putting peanut butter on a land mine (make that "antipersonnel device") .
george carlin performed a bit about this that was right to the point and it was done many years ago .
    to paraphrase :
"... the difference between shell-shock , battle fatigue and post traumatic stress syndrome"
