OK, I can not figure this out. I want the F keys to perform the Fn function by default. So, to adjust the screen brightness, I just hit the F1 or F2 key and not have to use the Fn key. Any ideas? I know I can use the Fn key lock, but do not want to.

you want, just like me, to have the Fn-key-lock permanent?

    I would HATE this...

If I bumped it then lets say you hit F7... your computer goes to sleepy in the middle of work!?

    No thanks :p

    Yes, exactly.

My MacBook Pro allows me to toggle between modes and it is very handy.

I used this program to reprogram keys on one german keyboard before: Index of /krumsick

I am unsure if it will help you with the FN key... You cannot combine keystrokes in one button but you can change a single button action. Basically reprogramming the keys on the keyboard involves edits in the Windows registry. I guess you can just switch the first and the second keystroke action of the F keys and that way you will make it reversed (brightness down without the FN and F-button with the FN).

Switching is OK with me, I'll test it and report back. Thanks!

No luck. KeyTweak does not support the Fn key, so it can not modify its behavior.

You don't have to modify the behavior of the FN key. You have to modify the (F5+FN) behavior which is counted as one key.
