I picked up ~40 used units on the weekend. They came from a utility company. All units have the emissive backlit keyboards and most are very grungy.

Anyone have ideas on how to clean them, without removing and soaking them?
Can I spray them with cleaner, or will that end up killing them. There is about 1/32" - 1/16" of crud on the sides on most keys, that is why I figured hosing them down with cleaner. The cleaner in question is SprayNine, a food grade industrial cleaner I use when cleaning used units.

Or can I hose them down with SN, scrub them clean, then rinse them good with water without the keyboards dying?

I use rubber kbs for my units so have no experience cleaning emissive kbs that are this heavly grunged. :)

Thanks in advance for any info.

Soooo, you going to haul the Hotsy unit up here for the weekend, are you Shawn?

Never thought of the electrical contact cleaner. There is one unit that has a baddly worn kb so I will try the elconer on it. :D Thanks.

It won't be ready this weekend. I am not finished replacing the blown up Kohler with a new Kubota. Maybe next weekend..

Morgan I still have 2 or 3 emissive parts keyboards if you need any parts or keys. Just FYI.

Thanks Paul. I have most of an emissive kb in pieces that Jeff sent me as a joke, but I thanked him for it as I knew sooner or later I would find a use for some of the pieces. I will definitely keep your offer in mind.

If you haven't taken one apart yet I took pictures and put them in in a thread TBT awhile back when I was rebuilding a few I had. Still have about 4 good ones left.
